The Waggon & Horses Southmoor-

The Westbrook Pub Company started its life just over a year ago when it took on The Black Horse, Standlake.  The efforts of the entire team has given The Black Horse a new lease of life. Rising to local fame within just a few months. The pub was a finalist in the 'Best Gastropub' category in the January OxInTheBox food awards, just over a month after reopening the pubs' doors.

Our aim and vision at The Black Horse was to have customers leaving thinking 'wow, what an experience from a village pub', and that is exactly our vision of what we are looking to bring to The Waggon & Horses, Southmoor.

Having spent much of  November & December renovating the pub, The Waggon & Horses has never looked so good. The pub has been painted from top to bottom, new wooden floor in the restaurant area, full bar refurbishment, new kitchen installed, new fireplace, new lighting and more.

The restaurant at The Waggon & Horses serves seasonal modern British food in relaxed & elegant surroundings, with a focus on our grilled offering. Our master butchers select the finest grass-fed cattle, prepare it expertly and dry-age it just for us from the best Oxfordshire herds, perfect for The Waggon and Horses steakhouse menu. We also have an excellent selection of grilled and roast meat dishes as well as stunning fish, vegetarian and vegan options, sourced and made to the same exacting standards. We are devoted to providing fresh, seasonal and where possible locally sourced food.

“The Black Horse Standlake has become a destination pub thanks to its new Head Chef Martin Sherriff.”
